Finish Strong safety effort: 116 Aggressive Driving Citations

Finish Strong is effort to end 2014 with fewer traffic deaths

From Tpr. Paul Blanton, Public Affairs Branch
Kentucky State Police

(FRANKFORT, KY) - Preliminary statistics indicate that ten people died on Kentucky roadways from Monday, November 3 through Sunday, November 9, 2014. During the same reporting period, KSP accounted for 411 seat belt citations, 116 aggressive driving citations, 49 distracted driving citations and 118 DUI arrests.

In an effort to reduce highway fatalities, KSP is asking Kentuckian's to 'Finish Strong' in 2014 by adhering to safe driving procedures including wearing seat belts, reducing speed, refraining from distractions and never driving impaired. Kentucky is currently at its lowest highway fatality rate in nearly fifty years.

The FinishStrongKY project began November 1, 2014 with a data driven strategy that places enforcement details in high crash zones where fatalities have occurred. The effort will remain in effect through the holidays. Citizens can contribute to highway safety by reporting erratic drivers to the Kentucky State Police toll-free at 1-800-222-5555. Callers will remain anonymous and should give a description of the vehicle, location, direction of travel and license number if possible.
