She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Palestine Baptist Church. She was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville. She was a member of Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. She was a native of Taylor County, KY, and a resident of the Taylor County, KY at the time of her death. Her husband of 58 years, John T. Durham, Jr., survives. She leaves four direct living descendants.

Mattie Durham, of Campbellsville, KY, was the daughter of the late Everett Sprowles and Rhea Beard Sprowles. She was born August 7, 1930, in Taylor County, Kentucky. She died at Wednesday, November 5, 2014 in Lexington, Fayette County, KY at the age of 84 years, two months, and three days.

Pallbearers: Ryan Adams, Jeremiah Beard, Wendell Gilbert, Richie Kessler, Joey Sapp, and Stevie Sprowles.

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Palestine Baptist Church.

She was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville.

She was a member of Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary.

She united in marriage to John T. Durham, Jr. June 6, 1956.

Besides her husband, John T. Durham, Jr. of Campbellsville, she is survived by the following:
  • One son and daughter-in-law: Jeff and Annella Durham of Lexington, KY

  • One grandson: Ryan Adams and wife, Katie of Nicholasville, KY

  • Two great-granddaughters: Elyse Adams and Lily Adams of Nicholasville, KY

  • Two sisters: Thelma Grimes and Arvella Kearnes and husband, Richard of Campbellsville, KY

  • Several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends
She was preceded in death by three brothers: Dencil Sprowles, Herman Keith Sprowles and James Sprowles. Expressions of sympathy requested to be donations to Gideon Bibles or Galilean Children's home and may be made at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home.
