Nadine Giles, Adair County, KY (1936-2014)

She was the matriarch of one the area's most distinguished families. She was born in Adair County, KY and was a resident of the county at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late O.L. & Martha Ether Sapp Rich. Her husband of 60 years, Charles Giles, survives. She leaves five direct living descendants. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, 2418 Campbellsville Road, Columbia, KY. She was bookkeeper at G & G Motors from time of opening until she and her husband sold their business.

Nadine Giles, age 78 of Columbia, KY passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at 6:15 PM at the Westlake Regional Hospital after several weeks illness.

Funeral service will be Friday, November 7, 2014 at 11amCT, at Trinity United Methodist Church. Clergy officiating Rev. Steve Pescosolido. Interment will be in Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY. Visitation will be after 4:30pmCT, Thursday, November 6, 2014, and after 6amCT Friday until 8:30amCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, and after 9amCT, at Trinity United Methodist Church.



Pall bearers: Chaz Giles, Van Giles, Baylor Giles, Clay Giles, Easton Bryant, and Brady Bryant.

Honorary Pallbearers: Mike England, Tommy Byrd, Terry Goodin Jack Collins, Eugene Cowan and Leonard Winslade.

She was born on Friday, July 31, 1936 in Adair County, KY. She was the daughter of the late O. L. & Martha Ether Sapp Rich. She died Tuesday, November 4, 2014, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 78 years, two months, and 4 days.

She is survived by her husband of sixty years Charles Giles of Columbia, KY.
  • One son: Dr. Chuck Giles and wife Melissa of Columbia, KY

  • Three brothers: Stanley Rich of Columbia, KY; Malcolm Rich & wife Peggy of Columbia, KY and Audie Rich of Bowling Green, KY

  • Three sisters: Zella B. Cundiff of Columbia, KY, Radine Rich of Columbia, KY & Evelyn Bolt of Osgood, IN

  • Four grandchildren: Chaz Giles, Van Giles, Baylor Giles and Clay Giles

  • Sister-in-law: Frankie Reynolds & husband William of Columbia, KY

  • Several nieces, nephews & a host of other relatives & friends survive
She was preceded in death by three sisters & three brothers: Pina Lee Pyles, Jewell Dick, Hilda Davidson, Herbert Rich, Dennis Rich & James Rich.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, was bookkeeper at G & G Motors from time of opening until they sold their business.

Expression of sympathy may take the form of donation to Trinity United Methodist Church & may be made at the funeral home.
