NAIA Women's Soccer National Player of Wk: LWC's Lyana Perez

Perez scored twice and added an assist against then-No. 1 Cumberland last week

By Charles Balcom

COLUMBIA, KY - Lyana Perez is the NAIA Women's Soccer National Offensive Player of the Week, the national office announced on Tuesday, November 4, 2014.

Her first career national award comes just one day after garnering Mid-South Conference Player of the Week honors.

Perez helped Lindsey Wilson to a 6-1 upset over then-No. 1 Cumberland (TN) on October 27, 2014, in Lebanon, TN.

The sophomore forward from Lima, Peru, scored two goals within 32 seconds after the Bulldogs took an early 1-0 lead in the match. Her second score proved to be the game winner as Lindsey Wilson went on to add four more goals on the day.

Perez assisted on a score in the 66th minute, giving her five total points for the match.

The victory helped the Blue Raiders secure the MSC regular-season title and the top overall seed at the MSC Tournament.
