Robert D. (Bob) Sheene, Sr. 73, Casey Co. KY (1941-2014)

He was an Army veteran and a founding member of the Yosemite Baptist Church. "Bob" was a retired corrections officer at Northpoint and a former maintenance worker at Ashland Oil. He was a 50 year member of the Rocky Ford Masonic Lodge #765. He loved to fish, travel, and camp. He enjoyed woodworking and was a carpenter. He was a native of Lincoln County, KY, and a resident of Casey County, KY, at the time of his death. His wife of 49 years, Billy Jean Lester Sheene, survives.

U.S. Veteran Robert D. "Bob" Sheene, Sr. passed away Saturday, October 11, 2014 at his home in Casey County, KY. He was 73.

A Celebration of Life Service is at 4pmCT/5pmET, Saturday, October 18, 2014 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY with Bro. Bill Hill officiating. Military honors will follow after service. Visitation is Saturday, October 18, 2014 at the funeral home 1pm-4pmCT/2pm5pmET.



Robert D. "Bob" Sheene, Sr. Casey Co., KY (1941-2014)


Born August 6, 1941 in Lincoln County, KY, he was the son of the late Robert D. and Iva Dean Bradshaw Sheene. He died Saturday, October 11, 2014, in Casey County, KY, at the age of 73 years, two months, and five days.

He was an Army veteran and a founding member of the Yosemite Baptist Church. "Bob" was a retired corrections officer at Northpoint and a former maintenance worker at Ashland Oil. He was a 50 year member of the Rocky Ford Masonic Lodge #765. He loved to fish, travel, and camp. He enjoyed woodworking and was a carpenter. Survivors include his wife, Billy Jean Lester Sheene, whom he married February 20, 1965, and the following:
  • Three sons: James K. Sheene of Nicholasville, KY; Robert D. (and Sheila) Sheene, Jr. of Liberty, KY;; and Eddie Crew of Liberty, KY

  • A daughter: Jennifer Lee (and Richard) Overstreet of Liberty, KY

  • Fourteen grandchildren: Josh, Allison, Garrick, Katie, Trent, Nick, Abigail, Jackson Robert, Vincent, Simon, Kevin, Jeremy, Amanda, and Shane
  • Two great-grandchildren, Brayden and Sophie; a brother, Marcus Benny (and Lorene) Sheene of Middleburg, KY
  • And two sisters, Janice Ann (and Gary) DeBord of Middletown, Ohio and Nancy (and Val) Randolph of Richmond, KY.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a grandson, Patrick Sheene. In lieu of flowers, memorials for Mr. Robert D. Sheene can be given to the Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
