Ion Wade Lacy, 97, Russell Springs, KY (1917-2014)

She was a homemaker and a active member of the Russell Springs United Methodist Church since 1941, where she was a member of the Susanna Wesley Sunday School Class, the United Methodist Women, serving on several committees of the church. She was an active member of the Russell Springs Homemakers. She was the matriarch of a distinguished Russell County, KY family. She was the daughter of the late William Festus & Mary Etta Anderson Wade, and the widow of Cloyd Andy Lacy. She leaves 29 direct living descendants.

Ion Wade Lacy, 97, died Friday, September 26, 2014, at the Fair Oaks Nursing Home in Jamestown, KY.

Funeral service for Ion Wade Lacy will be 11amCT, Monday, September 29, 2014, at Russell Springs United Methodist Church, 206 Jamestown Street, Russell Springs, KY, with Bro. Jim Kingry officiating. Visitation will be 4pm-8pmCT, Sunday, Bernard Funeral Home, 367 N Main Street, Russell Springs, KY, and after 9amCT, Monday at the church. Burial will be in the Columbia City Cemetery, 315 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY.



Ion Wade Lacy, 97, Russell Springs, KY (1917-2014)

She was the daughter of the late William Festus & Mary Etta Anderson Wade. She was born Tuesday, February 27, 1917 in Russell County, KY. She died Friday, September 26, 2014, in Jamestown, Russell County, KY, at the age of 97 years, six months, and 27 days.

She was a homemaker and a active member of the Russell Springs United Methodist Church since 1941, where she was a member of the Susanna Wesley Sunday School Class, the United Methodist Women, serving on several committees of the church. She was an active member of the Russell Springs Homemakers.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Cloyd Andy Lacy; two brothers, Artis Wade, Eldon Wade; sister, Marjorah Sands; two brothers-in-law, Jim McCabe, Phil Sands; and a sister-in-law, Maxine Wade. Survivors include the following:
  • Four children: Marilyn (Lowell) Clark, Frankfort, KY; Meda (Louis) Antle, Louisville, KY; Sherry (Robert) Strobeck, Orlando, FL, abd Dr. John (Cindi) Lacy, Danivlle, KY

  • Nine grandchildren

  • Sixteen great grandchildren

  • Sister: Delora McCabe, Cincinnati, Ohio
