Mr. Lawrence B. (Butter Head) Scott, Cumberland Co., KY (1938-2014)

He was the son of the late Bedford and Dovie Spears Scott. His wife of 36 years, Betty Ann Coop Scott, survives. He leaves one direct living descendant

Mr. Lawrence B. "Butter Head" Scott, age 76, of the Cherry Tree Ridge Community in Cumberland County, Kentucky passed away on Friday, September 5, 2014 at the Cumberland River Hospital in Celina, Tennessee.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at 2pmCT, in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home, 601 N Main Street, Burkesville, KY, with Bro. Gary Cash, Bro. Roger Gilbert and Bro. Troy Stewart officiating. Burial will be in the Long Cemetery in Cumberland County, Kentucky. The family will receive friends after 6pmCT, on Monday, September 8, 2014 at Norris-New Funeral Home until the funeral hour on Wednesday.



Mr. Lawrence B. (Butter Head) Scott, Cumberland Co., KY (1938-2014)


He was born in Cumberland County, Kentucky on Tuesday, August 23, 1938, the son of Bedford and Dovie Spears Scott. He died Friday, September 5, 2014, in Celina, Clay County, Tennessee, at the age of 76 years, 13 days.

He was a member of Spears Chapel Community Church and a tree trimmer for Morehead Tree Surgery.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Russell Spears, his sister, Sally Spears and an infant sister.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Ann Coop Scott of Burkesville, Kentucky, whom he married on Saturday, October 22, 1977, and the following:
  • His son: Sherman "Tom Dooley" Scott of Burkesville, Kentucky

  • His brothers: Bill Scott of Burkesville, Kentucky, and Roy Scott of Burkesville, Kentucky

  • His sister: Geneva Blakely of Burkesville, Kentucky

  • And several nieces and nephews
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions to the Lawrence (Butter Head) Scott Memorial Fund, in care of Norris-New Funeral Home, P.O. Box 335, Burkesville, Kentucky 42717.
