Mr. Dewey Chester Young, Cumberland Co., KY (1940-2014)

He was a Christian and attended Spears Chapel Community Church, a U. S. Army Veteran and a self-employed handyman. He was a native of Cumberland County, KY, and a resident of the county at the time of his death. He was he son of James Ress and Jewell Roach Young. His wife, Ida Ruth Melton Young, survives.

Mr. Dewey Chester Young, age 73, of the Spears Chapel Community in Cumberland County, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at his residence.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 2pmCT, in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home, 601 N Main Street, Burkesville, KY, with Bro. Gary Cash and Bro. Troy Stewart officiating. Burial will be in the Spears Cemetery in Peytonsburg, Kentucky. The family will receive friends after 10amCT on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at Norris-New Funeral Home until the funeral hour at 2pmCT.



Mr. Dewey Chester Young, Cumberland Co., KY (1940-2014)


He was born in Cumberland County, Kentucky on Wednesday, August 21, 1940. He was the the son of James Ress and Jewell Roach Young. He died Wednesday, August 13, 2014, in the Spears Chapel Community, Cumberland County, KY, at the age of 73 years, 11 months, and 23 days.

He was a Christian and attended Spears Chapel Community Church, a U. S. Army Veteran and a self-employed handyman.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, six sisters, a nephew and a great-niece.

He is survived by the following:
  • His wife: Ida Ruth Melton Young of Burkesville, Kentucky, whom he married on Friday, May 12, 2000

  • His brother and sister-in-law: Nile and Sherry Young of Indiana

  • His sister: Bonnie Robbins of Louisville, Kentucky

  • And several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Send a condolence to the family of Mr. Dewey Chester Young
