He was the patriarch of a large, highly respected Adair County, KY family. He was a native of Adair County, KY, and was a resident at the time of his death. He was the son of the late Cassius & Ginnie Lou Jessee. He leaves 25 direct living descendants. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, a carpenter, farmer and member of Columbia Masonic Lodge #96

Azro Coomer age 91 years of Columbia, KY passed away Monday, August 11, 2014 at 2amCT, at Summit Manor Health & Rehab Center in Columbia, KY. Funeral service Thursday, August 14, 2014 at 11amCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Lyndell Sexton and Bro. David Coffey the officiating clergy. Interment will be in Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY. Visitation will be after 3:30pmCT, Wednesday, August 12, 2014, at the funeral home.



Pallbearers: Seth Coomer, Eli Coomer, Trevor Barnes, Nick Barnes, Alex Turner, Austin Day and Mason Brown.

Honorary pallbearers: Richie Coomer, Gerald Coomer and Bob Rice.

He was born on April 22, 1923 in Adair County, KY. He was the son of the late Cassius & Ginnie Lou Jessie Coomer. He died Monday, August 11, 2014, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 91 years, three months, and 19 days.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Christine Munday Coomer, on August 3, 2002 and later married Claudia Coomer who also preceded him death.

He is survived by one daughter:
  • Marilyn (Junior) Brown of Milltown, KY

  • Two sons: Harold (Patricia) Coomer of Russell Springs, KY; and Willard (Sharon) Coomer of Columbia, KY

  • Eight grandchildren

  • Fourteen great grandchildren

  • Several nieces and nephews

  • And a host of other relatives and friends
He was preceded in death by the following brothers and sisters: Lawrence Coomer, Lucian Coomer, Thurman Coomer, Mary Helen Goodin, Christine Sexton and Kathrene Hitch.

He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church a Carpenter, farmer and member of Columbia Masonic Lodge #96.
