Ellen McQuaide, 96, Adair County, KY (1918-2014)

She was a member of a highly regarded Adair County family. She was the daughter of the late W. P. "Pete" & Maudie Ann Burton McQueary and the widow of the Nelson McQuaide. She was a charter member & Sunday School Secretary for several years at Trinity United Methodist Church, Postmistress at the Christine Post Office & worked at Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville, KY.

Ellen McQuaide age 96 years a resident of Summit Manor Health& Rehab Center in Columbia, KY passed away Saturday, July 5, 2014 at 6:05amCT, at Summit Manor, Columbia, KY.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at 1pmCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, with Rev. William R. Davenport the officiating clergy. Interment will be in Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY. Visitation after 4:30pmCT, Monday, July 7, 2014.



Ellen McQuaide, 96, Adair County, KY (1918-2014)

She was born on Wednesday, March 25, 1918 at Christine, Adair County, KY. She was the daughter of the late W. P. "Pete" & Maudie Ann Burton McQueary. She died Saturday, July 5, 2014, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 96 years, 3 months, and 11 days.

She was preceded in death by her husband Nelson McQuaide on Jan. 20, 1990; one daughter, Rosemary McQueary on November 17, 2010, and the following brothers & sisters Ivan McQueary, Elvin McQueary, W. E. McQueary, Walker McQueary, Oley McQueary, Dorothy Cornelous and Delia McQueary.

She is survived by the following:
  • One son: Nelson Edward McQuaide of Columbia, KY

  • Two grandchildren: Shannon (Dustin) Neat of Dunnville, KY, and Ryan (Scott) Harris of Somerset, KY

  • Four great grandchildren: Kennedy & Korbin Neat, and Anikin & Sawyer Harris

  • Several nieces, nephews, a host of other relatives and friends
She was a charter member & Sunday School Secretary for several years at Trinity United Methodist Church, Postmistress at the Christine Post Office & worked at Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville, KY.
