James Russell Shaw age 77 of Burkesville, KY passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at the Medical Center at Bowling Green. Funeral services were Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at 2pmCT, at Cave Springs Baptist Church, 53 Cave Springs Road, Albany, KY, with Bro. Ron Jones, and Bro. Jason Brogan, and Billy Copas officiating. Burial was in the Lewis Cemetery in Cumberland County, KY.

James Russell Shaw, 77, Burkesville, KY (1936-2014)

He was born on Wednesday, December 09, 1936 in Cumberland County, Kentucky to the late Lee Vanis Shaw and Ida Bunch Shaw. He died Saturday, May 24, 2014, in Bowling Green, Warren County, KY, at the age of 77 years, 5 months, and 15 days.

He was an employee of the City of Albany Water Department, and was a member of Cave Springs Baptist Church in Clinton County, KY.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one daughter, Tammy Shaw, and one brother Robert Shaw and his wife Cecil Shaw. Survivors Include:
  • His wife: Vera Delphine Welch Shaw of Burkesville, KY

  • Two sons: Timothy Shaw and his wife Betty, and Mike Shaw and his wife Carla all of Albany, KY

  • One daughter: Schonia Dicken of Albany, KY
  • Two grandchildren he helped raise: Joshua Shaw, and Jonathan Dicken

  • Nine other grandchildren: Ricky Ford, Anthony Shaw, Amanda Shaw, Benji Claywell, Patrick Dicken, Dakota Miller, Charles Gordon, Samuel Rains, Jimmy Rains

  • His best friend: David Guffey

  • Ten great grandchildren

  • And a host of other relatives and friends
