James Thomas Puracchio, Taylor County (1954-2014) Mr. Puracchio was an accomplished high-performance mechanic, having worked on several professional teams and winning numerous awards throughout his lifetime. Some claimed he could even rebuild a racing transmission blindfolded. He was the owner of Jim's Performance in Campbellsville, KY, but he often felt that his biggest contribution to the sport he loved (drag racing) was in the work he did for the Hot Rodders of Tomorrow Engine Challenge, a non-profit which has raised over 2 1/2 million dollars in scholarship money. Click on headline for complete obituary with photo(s) Mr. James "Jim" Thomas Puracchio, son of Dorothy Puracchio and the late Thomas Puracchio, passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2014 in Campbellsville, KY. He was 60 years, 3 months, and 7 days of age. There will be a funeral service conducted at the L.R. Petty Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1765 New Columbia Rd., Campbellsville, KY 42718 on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at 12pmCT/1pmET and officiated by Bro. Jim Collison. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 21, from 10amCT/11amET until time for the funeral. After the funeral in Campbellsville, Mr. Puracchio's wife will travel with his ashes to his hometown of Wilmington, IL. There, a memorial service will be held at the Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road, Wilmington, IL 60481 on Friday, May 23, 2014 from 10amCT until 6pmCT. All of Jim's friends and family are encouraged to attend.
