Maerene Shirley, Adair County, KY (1932-2014) She was the matriarch of a highly regarded Adair County, KY family. She was a native of the East Fork Community of Metcalfe County, KY, and a resident of Adair County at the time of her death. She was the widow of Evan Shirley who died in 1989. A son, Udell Shirley, died three days prior to the death of Mrs. Shirley. She leaves four direct living descendants. Mrs. Shirley was a member of the Lighthouse Tabernacle in Knifley, KY and retired from Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville, KY. She was the daughter of the late Elbert and Ethel Parsons Brock. She died Monday, March 24, 2014, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 82 years, 1 month, and 16 days. She was preceded in death by her husband Evan Shirley in 1989 and by a son Udell Shirley Friday, March 21, 2014 and by the following siblings: Clarence Brock, Lawrence Brock, James Brock, Russell Brock, Annie Elmore and Hattie Moore.
