Hilda Jean Ellis, 79, Russell Co., KY (1934-2014)

She was a native of Casey County, KY, and a resident of Russell County, KY, at the time of her death. She was a member of a highly regarded family centered around the Dunnville community of Casey County, KY. She was a member of Egypt Christian Church in Adair County and retired from Fruit of the Loom.

Hilda Jean Ellis, 79, of Jamestown, KY, died Friday, March 14, 2014 at 5:40pmCT, at the Russell County Hospital in Russell Springs, KY.

A celebration of the life of Hilda Jean Ellis will be Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at 1pmCT, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with burial in Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY. Visitation will be after 4pmCT, Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at the funeral home.



Hilda Jean Ellis, 79, Russell Co., KY (1934-2014)

She was born April 1, 1934, in Casey County, KY. She was the daughter of the late William Henry and Piney Ethel Brown Patton.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, David Ellis and two brothers, N.T. Patton and Herman Patton.


She was a member of Egypt Christian Church in Adair County, KY, and was retired from Fruit of the Loom.

Survivors include the following:
  • One son; Mike (Peggy) Ellis of Columbia, KY

  • Two daughters: Kathy Ellis of Bowling Green, KY; and Tabitha Ellis of Jamestown, KY

  • One brother: Paul (Carol) Patton of Campbellsville, KY

  • Four sisters: Helen (Marvin) Meredith of Cincinnati, OH, Thelma Garcia of San Diego, CA, Shirley Hansford of Liberty, Wanda (Gary) Frederick of Cincinnati, OH

  • Four grandchildren: Leslie Stewart, Jennifer Hardwick, Holly Ellis and Crystal McClister

  • Nine great-grandchildren: John, Sarah, Andrew & Matthew Stewart, Caroline, Madeline and Griffen Hardwick, Haley Cook, Ethan McClister

  • Several nieces, nephews and a host of friends
