David Gillis Upchurch, 72 years formerly of Sparksville, KY and a resident of Summit Manor Nursing Home in Columbia, KY passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at 9:37pmCT, at the Westlake Regional Hospital Emergency Room in Columbia, KY.

Funeral service will be Friday, March 14, 2014 at 11amCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Lonny Karnes the officiating clergy. Interment will be in the Sparksville Baptist Church Cemetery, 9401 Burkesville Road, Columbia, KY. Visiting will be after 4pmCT, on Thursday, March 13, 2014, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.



David Gillis Upchurch, Adair County, KY (1942-2014)

He was born Sunday, February 22, 1942 in Breeding, Adair County, KY. He was the son of the late Charlie and Olivia Brewington Upchurch. He died Tuesday, March 11, 2014, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 72 years, 17 days.

He was preceded in death by these siblings: Marcus Bryson Upchurch, James Lee Upchurch, Ronald Upchurch, Gary Lewis Upchurch and Mary Joan Blaydes.

He is survived by the following
  • Two daughters

  • One sister: Joyce Campbell & husband Maxie of Sparksville, KY

  • Three grandchildren

  • Several nieces and nephews and a host of friends
He was a retired machine operator and an avid NASCAR and University of Kentucky basketball fan. He served in the US Army from 1960-1963.
