Mr. Joseph E. Shuffett, Green County, KY (1930-2014)

Mr. Shuffett had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Liberty Separate Baptist Church where he was a former Sunday School Superintendent and trustee. He was also a lifelong farmer and past Green County Magistrate. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Wanda Coffey Shuffett. He leaves 7 direct living descendants.

Mr. Joseph Eugene Shuffett of Greensburg, Kentucky, son of the late Eugene Shuffett and Virginia Wilson Shuffett, was born on April 30, 1930 in Green County, Kentucky and departed this life on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at his home. He was 85 years, ten months, and eleven days of age.

The funeral services for Mr. Joe E. Shuffett will be conducted at 11amCT, Thursday, March 13, 2014 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S Main Street, Greensburg, KY, with burial to follow in the Liberty Cemetery. Bro. Todd Davis and Bro. Gleason Bloyd will be officiating. Visitation is requested from 3pmCT, until 8pmCT, Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7amCT, Thursday until time of the funeral service.



Pallbearers: Tim Coffey, Jeremy Coffey, Jason Coffey, Greg Coffey, Richard Coffey, Joe G. Shuffett, James E. Shuffett, and Luke Shuffett.

Honorary pallbearers: Liberty Separate Baptist Church Adult Sunday School Class.

Mr. Joseph Eugene Shuffett of Greensburg, Kentucky, was the son of the late Eugene Shuffett and Virginia Wilson Shuffett. He was born on April 30, 1930 in Green County, Kentucky and departed this life on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at his home. He was 85 years,10 months, and 11 days of age.

Mr. Shuffett had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Liberty Separate Baptist Church where he was a former Sunday School Superintendent and trustee. He was also a lifelong farmer and past Green County Magistrate.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Wanda Coffey Shuffett having united in marriage on December 22, 1950.

Other survivors include:
  • A son and daughter-in-law: Barney and Donna Ruth Shuffett of Greensburg, KY

  • Two granddaughters and their husbands: Cara and Chad Brown of Greensburg, KY; and Laura and Erik Mohn of Crestwood, KY

  • Four great-grandchildren: Macy Brown and Ally Brown both of Greensburg, KY; Claire Mohn and Evan Mohn both of Crestwood

  • A sister: Louise Sullivan of Greensburg; KY

  • and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mr. Shuffett was also preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters: Walton Shuffett, W.C. "Bill" Shuffett, Richard Shuffett, Carolyn Coffey, and Susanna Thompson.

Memorials are suggested to Hosparus of Green River.
