Leonard "Jeff" Denton age 72 years of the Rooks-Denton Road, Columbia, KY (the Sano Community) passed away suddenly Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at his home.

Funeral services will be Friday, February 14, 2014 at 1pmCT at the Free Union Separate Baptist Church, 4642 Sano Road, Columbia, KY. Interment in the Free Union Cemetery The family request visiting after 3:30pmCT, Thursday, February 13, 2014, and from 6amCT until 11:15pmCT, Friday at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, and after 12pm noon Friday at Free Union Separate Baptist Church. Pallbearers; John Denton, Tony Denton, Troy Denton, David Denton, Andrew Ellis, Wes Ellis, and Zachary Hadley.



Leonard (Jeff) Denton, 72, Adair Co., KY (1941-2014)


He was born December 9, 1941 in Adair County, the son of the late James Russell and Josephine Burton Denton. He died Tuesday, February 11, 2014, in Adair County, KY, at the age of 72 years 2 months, and 2 days.

He was preceded in death by a brother, William Robert "Billy" Denton and a nephew David Denton.

He is survived by the following:
  • Three brothers: Jimmy Denton & wife Juanita of Columbia, KY; J.W. Denton and wife Mitchelene of Columbia, KY; Freddie Denton and wife Sharlet of Columbia, KY

  • Three sisters: Sandra Bryant and husband Willard of Columbia, KY; Minnie Smith and husband Barry of Columbia, KY; and Marty Ellis and husband: Jimmy of Columbia, KY

  • Thirteen nieces and nephews and 20 great nieces and nephews
Mr. Denton attended the Free Union Separate Baptist Church and was a self- employed logger.

Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY in charge of arrangements.
