Mrs. Christine Margaret Brown Cook, Burkesville, KY (1941-2014)

She was a member of a very large, respected Cumberland County area family. She was a member of Parrish Chapel United Methodist Church, and since moving to town had been attending Highland Chapel United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker and seamstress for Sutton Shirt Corporation.

Mrs. Christine Margaret Brown Cook, age 72, of Burkesville, Kentucky passed away Monday, January 27, 2014 at The Cumberland County Hospital in Burkesville, Kentucky.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in The Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home with Rev. Neil Janes and Rev. R. Tom Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Parrish Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 12 noon on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 until the funeral hour on Thursday.



Mrs. Christine Margaret Brown Cook, Burkesville, KY (1941-2014)

She was born on Monday, September 8, 1941 in the Piney Woods Community of Clinton County, Kentucky. She was the daughter of Paul W. and Ruby C. Updyke Brown. She died Monday, January 27, 2014, in Burkesville, Cumberland County, KY, at the age of 72 years, 4 months, and 19 days.

She was a member of Parrish Chapel United Methodist Church, and since moving to town had been attending Highland Chapel United Methodist Church. She was a Homemaker and Seamstress for Sutton Shirt Corporation.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James Cook, her son, Edward Cook, her brothers, Garland Brown, Herbert Brown, Gene Brown, Bill Brown, Willard Brown and Keith Brown.

She is survived by:
  • Her children: Susie (and Maxie) Thomas of Albany, Kentucky; Jimmy (and Sandra) Cook of Burkesville, Kentucky; and Jeff (and Regina) Cook of Burkesville, Kentucky

  • Daughter-in-law: Toni Cook of Burkesville, Kentucky

  • Siblings: Mary Gibbons of Brownsville, Kentucky; Pauline Kowen of Camby, Indiana; Bessie (and Edward) Bingham of Sadler, Texas; Jim (and Bonnie) Brown of Indianapolis, Indiana; Roy (and Rose) Brown of Indiana; Ricky (and Jackie) Brown of Indianapolis, Indiana; Kathline Gibson of Albany, Kentucky

  • Grandchildren: Howard Bray, James Bray, Krystal Cook, James Edward (and JaLisa) Cook, Haley Cook

  • Great-grandsons: Adam Bray, Hunner Cook and Gage Cook

  • Sisters-in-law: Nora Mae Brown of Albany, Kentucky; Lounell Cook of Louisville, Kentucky; Bonnie Cook of Indiana

  • Special Friends: Ethan McClister, Haley Johnson, Dalton Johnson, and Milas Smith
