Alice Wells Murphy age 65 of Indianapolis, IN formerly of Burkesville, KY passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. Funeral services will be Monday, January 20, 2014 at 11amCT, at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home, 304 North Main Street, Burkesville, KY with Bro. Bill Evans officiating. Burial in Murley Cemetery. The family requests visitation 3pm-8pmCT, Sunday, January 19, 2014 at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home in Burkesville, KY.

Alice was born on Saturday, May 15, 1948 in Cumberland County, KY. She was the daughter of Irene Crawford Wells and the late Carmon Wells. She died Wednesday, January 15, in Indianapolis, Marion County, IN, at the age of 65 years, 8 months.

She was a retired medical secretary for Riley Hospital and a member of Biltmore Church of Christ. In addition to her father she was preceded in death by one brother Charles Crawford and one sister, Gayle Shanehsaz.

Survivors include:
  • Her husband: Morris Murphy of Indianapolis, IN

  • Her mother: Irene Wells of Franklin, Indiana

  • One son: Ed Morris Murphy, Jr. and his wife Julie of Indianapolis, IN

  • One daughter; Teresa Murphy Moffet and her husband Nathaniel of Knoxville, TN

  • One brother: William Wells of Shelbyville, IN

  • Four grandchildren- Daniel Murphy, Elizabeth Murphy, Gabriel Moffett, and Cloe Moffett
