Vatus Gibson, of Hustonville, passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2013, at the Golden Living Center in Stanford, KY. She was 89.

Funeral services will be at 12pmCT/1pmET, Tuesday, December 31, 2013, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY, with Bro. Jerod Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Buffalo Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be 5pm-8pmCT/6pm-9pmET, on Monday, December 30, 2013, at the funeral home.



Vatus Gibson, Hustonville, KY, (1924-2013)


Born September 1, 1924, in Casey Co., KY, she was a daughter of the late Sherman and Carrie Sandusky Emerson. She died Saturday, December 28, 2013, in Stanford, Lincoln County, KY, at the age of 89 years, 3 months, and 27 days.

Mrs. Gibson was a housewife and a member of the McKinney Christian Church.

Survivors include:
  • Her sons, Dallin (Phyllis) Gibson of Georgetown, KY; Gary Gibson and Russell (Kathy) Gibson, both of Hustonville, KY; and Ricky (Jennifer) Gibson of Glasgow, KY

  • Her daughters: Faye Roy of Cincinnati, OH; Sue (Kenneth) Bailey of Georgetown, KY; and Phillis (Bobby) Wallen of Franklin, IN

  • Brothers: Gene Emerson of Liberty, KY; and Rex (Connie) Emerson of Cincinnati, OH

  • Sisters, Lois Miller of Liberty, KY; and Sue Cross of Cincinnati, OH

  • Seventeen grandchildren

  • And several great and great-great grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her husband, Noah Gibson; her parents; son, Larry Gibson; daughter, Dorothy Sprinkles; brothers, Jesse, Rollin, and Coy Emerson; sister, Jewell Smith; three grandchildren; and also several other great and great-great grandchildren precede her in death.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of one's choice.

Arrangements entrusted to McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY.
