Fay Cowan, Adair Co., KY native (1927-2013)

She was a native of Adair County, and a resident of Trafalgar, Johnson County, IN at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late Wesley and Bert Dile Burton, and the widow of Alvis Cowan. She leaves 12 direct living descendants. She attended the Who So Ever Will Community Church in Edinburgh, IN, was a member of Edinburgh Double Y Saddle Club, retired in 1978 after 25 years at Arvin's in Franklin, IN. She enjoyed spending time with family, reading, camping, horses and collecting Jeff Gordon memorabilia.

Fay Cowan age 86 years of Trafalgar, IN passed away Monday, December 23, 2013 at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin, IN after a month long illness.

Funeral service Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 10amCT/11amET at Who So Ever Will Community Church, 623 S. Eisenhower DR, Edinburgh, IN in Edinburgh, IN, with Rev. Lewis Burton & Rev. Guy Hardin the officiating clergy. Interment will be in Ninevah Cemetery in Ninevah, IN

She was born on August 26, 1927 in Adair County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Wesley & Bert Dile Burton. She died Monday, December 23, 2013, in Franklin, Johnson County, IN, at the age of 86 years, 3 months, and 28 days.

She was the widow of Alvis Cowan.

She is survived by:
  • Daughters: Almeda Turpin of Trafalgar, IN, and Annette (Phil) Wesley of Mooresville, IN

  • One brother: Buford (Alene) Burton of Edinburgh, IN

  • One sister: Barbara Pendleton of Edinburgh, IN

  • Special friends: Clara & Glen Flatt

  • Six grandchildren

  • Four great grandchildren

  • A sister-law Alberta (Vitis) Bailey of Columbia, KY

  • and a host of other relatives and friends
She was preceded in death by the following brothers and sisters: Van Burton, Clay Fairly Burton, Lester Burton, Clayton Burton, Mildred Burton, Millie Burton, Beulah Sinclair and Exuria Goodin.
