Virginia Gaye Goodin, 69, a resident of Fair Oaks Nursing Home in Jamestown, KY died Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at 8:21pmET, at Baptist Health in Lexington, KY.

Funeral service, is Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 11amCT, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Randy Brown officiating. Burial will be in the Smith-Hutchison Cemetery, 4272 Pelham Branch Road, Columbia, KY. Visitation will be after 5:30pmCT, Friday, December 6, 2013.

She was born February 22, 1944, in Eli, Russell County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Leamer B. Smith and Lena McGowan Smith, who survives. She died Wednesday, December 4, 2013, in Lexington, Fayette County, KY at the age of 69 years, 9 months, and 10 days. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Wayne Goodin on December 5, 2011.

She was a member of Mt. Hope Separate Baptist Church and a homemaker.
Survivors include:
  • Her mother: Lena McGowan Smith Wright of Jamestown, KY

  • One daughter: Melissa Gaye Branscum of Somerset, KY

  • One brother: James T. Smith of Louisville, KY

  • Five sisters: Zula Mae Coomer of Berea, KY; Judy Kaye Smith of Jamestown, Ky; Rita Faye Smith of Columbia, KY; Cathie Laye Rogers of Jamestown, KY; Alva Rae Smith of Russell Springs, KY

  • A special sister-in-law & brother-in-law: Linda & Phillip Lee of Somerset, KY

  • Two grandchildren

  • A host of nieces and nephews
