Mrs. Fanola Nell Whitlock DeSpain, Green Co., KY (1917-2013)

She was a member of a distinguished Green County, KY, family. She was a native of Green County. She was the widow of Charlie DeSpain. She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Greensburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She graduated from Lindsey Wilson College and started teaching at Liletown in 1936. She received her BS degree from Western Kentucky Normal School in 1948 with a secondary certificate. She retired from teaching in 1982. She was initiated into the Order of the Eastern Star in September 1955. She served as Worthy Grand Matron in 1968-1969.

Mrs. Fanola Nell Whitlock DeSpain, 95, Greensburg, KY, departed this life Saturday, November 30, 2013 at the Taylor Regional Medical Center, Campbellsville, KY.

Funeral services will be at Greensburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 699 Old Hodgenville Road, Greensburg, KY, at 11amCT, Tuesday, December 3, 2013. Visitation is 4pm-8pmCT, Monday, at Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home, 209 W Court Street, Greensburg, ky and 9am-11amCT at the church. Eastern Star Service at 7pmCT, Monday, at Foster-Toler Funeral Home provided by Greensburg Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 232. Interment will be in Bennett Cemetery, Green County, KY. Rev. Kevin Brantley will be the officiating clergy.



Pallbearers: Joe DeSpain, David DeSpain, Phillip DeSpain, James DeSpain, Johnny DeSpain, and Steve Shaw.

Honorary Pallbearers: Harold "Hudge" Hudgins, Jimmy Beams, Joe Tommy Hodges, Billy Conn Patterson, and Joseph Richard Monday.

Mrs. Fanola Nell Whitlock DeSpain was born Monday, December 3, 1917 in Green County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Robert Marion Whitlock and Bertha Everett Mouser Whitlock. She departed this life Saturday, November 30, 2013 at the Taylor Regional Medical Center in Campbellsville, Taylor County, KY, having attained the age of 95 years, 11 months and 27days.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Greensburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Thomas DeSpain.

She graduated from Lindsey Wilson College and started teaching at Liletown in 1936. She received her BS degree from Western Kentucky Normal School in 1948 with a secondary certificate. She retired from teaching in 1982. She was initiated into the Order of the Eastern Star in September 1955. She served as Worthy Grand Matron in 1968-1969.

She is survived by several nephews, nieces, cousins and a host of friends.

The family would appreciate that expressions of sympathy be donations to the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. These can be made at the Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home.
