Carl Meece, 72, Casey County, KY (1941-2013)

Carl was a farmer and a member of the Baptist faith. He served as Deputy Sheriff for 4 years under Ray Overstreet and then served as Sheriff of Casey County for 16 years. Carl also served as Casey County Judge Executive for 4 years. He was also a former member of the Masonic Lodge. He was the son of the late Henry and Sylvia Richardson Meece. His dear wife of over 55 years, Carol Roy Meece, survives. He leaves 4 direct living descendants.

Carl Meece, of Hwy 910 in Casey County, KY passed away on Tuesday, November 26, 2013, at his residence, with his family by his side.

Funeral services will be at 1pmCT/2pmET, Friday, November 29, 2013, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY, with Bro. Robert Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Cedar Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be held after 5pmCT/6pmET, Thursday and after 7amCT/8pmET, Friday, both at the funeral home.

Members of the Casey County Sheriff's Department will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Clevie Rodgers, Ronnie Luttrell, Tommy Luttrell, David Brockman, Jimmy Antle, Ralph Mings, Larry Bowmer, Gary Baldock, Hershel Price, Tom Weddle, Winford Harris, Richard Lawson, Brent Clements, Ronnie Thomas, Haskel Hall, Steve Fox, Danny Burton, and Phillip Godbey.

Born Friday, April 25, 1941, in Casey Co., KY, he was a son of the late Henry and Sylvia Richardson Meece. He died Tuesday, November 26, 2013, in Casey County, KY, at the age of 72 years, 7 months, and 1 day.

Carl was a farmer and a member of the Baptist faith. He served as Deputy Sheriff for 4 years under Ray Overstreet and then served as Sheriff of Casey County for 16 years. Carl also served as Casey County Judge Executive for 4 years. He was also a former member of the Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include his dear wife, whom he wed on August 28, 1958, Carol Roy Meece, and the following:
  • Sons: Mike and Mark Meece, both of Liberty, KY

  • Brother: Doug (Janice) Meece of Windsor, KY

  • Sister: Gola Mae McDonald of Danville, IN

  • And two grandchildren: Chad and Shelby Meece.

    He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers, Bennie, Donald, and Danny Mitchell Meece.

    Funeral arrangements entrusted to McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY.
