Robert Lewis Brockman, Adair County, KY (1922-2013)


He was a native of Adair County, KY, the son of the late Lewis P. & Matra P Reynolds Brockman. He was the patrriarch of a high regarded Adair County family. He leaves 14 direct and one step living descendant. He was a member of Pollards Chapel United Methodist Church, attended Trinity United Methodist Church, was a retired farmer and carpenter, a veteran of World War II serving his country in the U. S. Army.

Robert Lewis Brockman age 91 years of Columbia, KY passed away.Thursday, November 7, 2013 at 6:27amCT, at Westlake Regional Hospital, Columbia, KY, after an illness.

Funeral service Saturday November 9, 2013 at 11amCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, with Rev. William R. Davenport the officiating clergy. Interment will be in Cane Valley Cemetery, 83 Cane Valley Cemetery Road, Cane Valley, KY, with full military honors by the local VFW Post 6097 and the Kentucky Patriot Guard Riders. Visitation will be after 4pmCT, Friday, November 8, 2013, at the funeral home.

He was born on Friday, October 27, 1922 in Adair County, KY. He was the son of the late Lewis P. & Matra P. Reynolds Brockman. He died Thursday, November 7, 2013, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 91 years, 11 days.

; He was preceded in death by an infant son, Alvin Lewis Brockman in 1949; an infant grandchild Brittany Brockman; two brothers and two sisters: Wallace Brockman, Paul "Charlie" Brockman, Edna Mae Brockman and Ruth Garmon.

He is survived by his wife: Mary Louise Pollard Brockman, and the following:
  • Two sons: James Robert (Amber Susan) Brockman of Paducah, KY and Bobby (Betty) Brockman of Gallatin, TN

  • Two daughters: Mary Ann (Jerry) Quinn of Columbia, KY and Cindy (Brian) Melton of Columbia, KY

  • Two brothers: Davis B. Brockman and Ores A. Brockman of Columbia, KY

  • Seven grandchildren: Melanie Shinbaum, Ashley Toll, Jayme McClure, James "Robby" Brockman, Timothy Shawn Jones, Emily Melton and Luke Melton.

  • One step-grandson: Brandon Quinn

  • Five great grandchildren: Kaitlyn and Brock Shinbaum, Gwendolyn and Josephine Toll and Mason McClure

  • Several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends survive
He was a member of Pollards Chapel United Methodist Church, attended Trinity United Methodist Church, was a retired farmer and carpenter, a veteran of World War II serving his country in the U. S. Army.
