Election 2014: Filing for office begins today

New faces are assured in two Adair county-wide offices. County Court Clerk Sheila Blair and Adair County Jailer Rick Wilson have both announced they are retiring. At the heads of county and city government, Adair County Judge Ann Melton has announced she will be a candidate, but Mayor Mark D. Harris is weighing a possible run for County Court Clerk, which would mean a new mayor would be in office in 2015

Candidates for local Adair County offices may begin filing candidate papers for local offices today, Wednesday, November 8, 2013, 8amCT-4:30pmCT, at office of Adair County Court Clerk Sheila Blair, in the Adair Annex, 424 Public Square.

County-wide races in 2014 include County Judge Executive, County Court Clerk, County Attorney, Sheriff, Jailer, Coroner, Property Valuation (Test required to Qualify), and County Surveyor.

The Mayor of Columbia position will be on the ballot, and all six City Council seats are open.

Magistrates and Constables in Adair County's seven Districts will be elected in 2014.

Two members of the five person School Board will be elected. Voters will elect school board members from Division One and Division Three. There will also be elections for Soil Conservation District members.
