Dorothy Davis Finn, 86, Cumberland Co., KY native (1927-2013)

She was the matriarch of a highly regarded family with deep roots in Cumberland, Adair, Green, and Taylor Counties of South Central Kentucky, as well as Louisville, KY. She was united in marriage to the Foster Finn Sr. for 62 years until his death in 2010. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, cooking and baking, collecting dishes, and gardening. She was a faithful member of her church, Bethany United Methodist Church. Dorothy previously was very active in her church, Pickett's Chapel, in Adair County, prior to moving to Louisville in 1967. She leaves five direct living descendants.

Dorothy D. Finn, 86, of Louisville, entered into eternal peace with God, on Friday, October 25, 2013, surrounded by her family.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 29, 2013 from 2pm-7pmCT/3pm-8pmET, at Newcomer Funeral Home/Southwest Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY. Funeral services will be held at 10amCT/11amET, on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at Bethany United Methodist Church 6100 Moorman Road, Louisville, KY, with visitation starting at 9amET/10amCT. Burial will follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, 2501 North Dixie Boulevard, Radcliff, KY 40160.

Dorothy was born Thursday, April 28, 1927 in Cumberland County, KY. She was the daughter of Godfrey and Bonnie Davis. She died Friday, October 25, 2013, at the age of 86 years, 5 months, and 27 days.

She was united in marriage to Foster Benjamin Finn, Sr. of Adair Co., KY. Their marriage spanned 62 years until his death January 3, 1910. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, cooking and baking, collecting dishes, and gardening. She was a faithful member of her church, Bethany United Methodist Church. Dorothy previously was very active in her church, Pickett's Chapel, in Adair County, prior to moving to Louisville in 1967.

Besides her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Foster Finn Sr. and two brothers Keith and R.C. Davis.

Dorothy is survived by
  • Her son: Ben and his wife Jan Finn

  • Her daughter: Beverly and husband Gary Vincent

  • Three grandchildren: Seth Finn, Zack Finn, and Bridgette Boyer and her father Lee Boyer

  • Two sisters: Mary Underwood and Imogene Vaughn

  • Two brothers: Gerald Davis and Malcolm Davis

  • And a host of other family and friends in Louisville, Green, Taylor, Cumberland, and Adair Counties, KY
