Mr. Robert Granvil Edwards, Sulphur Well, KY (1926-2013)

He was a native of Adair County, KY, a resident of Sulphur Well, Metcalfe County, KY. He was the patriarch of a highly regarded family. He was the son of the late Carlie and Elvyen Matney Edwards. His marriage to Lorene Beard Edwards, who survives, spaned a remarkable 67 years. He leaves 20 direct living descendants. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and attended the Pleasant Ridge United Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired farmer

Mr. Robert Granvil Edwards of Sulphur Well, Kentucky, son of the late Carlie and Elvyen Matney Edwards was born June 4, 1926 in Adair County and departed this life on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at Summit Manor Nursing Home in Columbia, Kentucky at the age of 87.

Funeral services will be held 2pmCT, Sunday, October 27, 2013, at Butler Funeral Home, 201 East Street, Edmonton, KY, with burial in the Edwards Home Place Cemetery. Visitation will be 3pm-8pmCT, Saturday, October 26, 2013, and after 9amCT, Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Robert Granvil Edwards of Sulphur Well, Metcalfe County, KY was the son of the late Carlie and Elvyen Matney Edwards. He was born June 4, 1926 in Adair County, KY and departed this life on Thursday, October 24, 2013, in Columbia, Adair County, KY at the age of 87 years, 4 months, and 18 days.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and attended the Pleasant Ridge United Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired farmer.

He was united in marriage to his wife of 67 years, Lorene Beard Edwards, who survives, on August 16, 1946 He is also survived by the following:
  • Three sons and one daughter: Timmie (wife Bonnie) Edwards, Carl (wife Lee Ann) Edwards, Terry (wife Jennifer) Edwards and Patricia (husband Barry) Froedge all of Edmonton, KY

  • Two brothers and one sister: Jim Edwards of Edmonton, KY; Robert Earl Edwards of Louisville, KY; and Evon Stolzes of California

  • Six grandchildren; Timothy, Amanda, Tabatha, Brittany, Candie and Courtney.

  • Ten great grandchildren; Trevor, Kassidy, Mason, Melanie, Miranda, Chase, Easton, Hannah, Austin and Lydia

  • Several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends
He was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters; Weldon, Arlis, Jake and Larry Edwards, Dorothy Curry, Gracie Bishop and Sybil Bush; and one granddaughter Laura White.

Butler Funeral Home, 201 East Street, Edmonton, KY, in charge fo arrangement.
