He was a highly respected long time figure in the retail appliance business in Columbia. He attended Hutchison Community Church were his son is pastor, He was a salesman for Shrader's Adair Home Supply for many many years and was a salesman for Janes Appliance, positions he enjoyed and loved very much. He was a member of a highly regarded Adair County, KY family, the son of the late Benjamin Harrison & Mackie Coomer Brown and the widower of Geneva Marie Janes Brown. Their marriage endured over 60 years. He leaves 11 direct living descendants.

Calvin Brown, age 88, a resident of Summit Manor Health and Rehab in Columbia, KY passed away Monday, October 21, 2013 at 7:25pmCT, at Summit Manor after several weeks illness.

Funeral service will be Friday, October 25, 2013 at 2pmCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street. Columbia, KY. Visiting after 1pmCT/2pmET, on Thursday at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home. Burial in the Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY.

He was born Friday, May 8, 1925. Calvin C. Brown, Adair County, KY (1925-2013). He was the son of the late Benjamin Harrison & Mackie Coomer Brown. He died Monday, October 21, 2013, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 88 years, 5 months, and 13 days.

He was preceded in death by his wife Geneva Marie Janes Brown on July 17, 2008. Survived by the following:
  • One son: Bro. Larry (devon) Brown of Columbia, KY

  • One daughter: Sharon (Phillip) Garmon of Columbia, KY

  • Two sister: Audrey Campbell & Lenora Parrish of Columiba, KY

  • Three grandchildrens: Renee Brown, Cameron Garmon, and Nick Brown

  • Six great grandchildren: Amber (Tyler) Feese, Tyler Kemp, Halle Brown Kailey Garmon, John and Isabella Savage

  • Nieces, nephews and a host of friends
He was also preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters: Duleth Brown, Herbert Brown, Roscoe Brown, Alice Coomer, Claudie Coomer, Cymbeline Gowen, and Faye Bault.
