LIBERTY - Lester "Doodler" Roy, of Thomas Ridge in Dunnville, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2013, at his residence. He was 76.

Funeral services will be held at 1pmCT/2pmET, Sunday, October 20, 2013, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 756 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY, with Bro. Rodney Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Antioch Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4pm-8pmCT/5pm-9pmET, Saturday, October 19, 2013, at the funeral home.



Pallbearers will be Roger Coffey, Charlie Smith, Bob Weddle, Nathan Roy, Kenny Morgan, and Walter Robertson.

Born June 10, 1937, in Casey Co., KY, he was the son of Lorene Miller Chapman of Liberty and the late Columbus Roy. He died Wednesday, October 16, 2013, in Dunnville, Casey County, KY, at the age of 76 years, 4 months, and 6 days.

Doodler, as known by many, was a farmer and a member of the Casey County Pork Producers Association. He was a member of the Thomas Ridge Christian Church and also attended the Walnut Hill Separate Baptist Church. He liked to hunt and fish.

Survivors include his mother, Lorene Miller Chapman of Liberty, KY, and the following:
  • Son: Billy (Regina) Roy of Dunnville, KY

  • A daughter: Dana (Kenny) Morgan of Dunnville, KY

  • Brothers: Jackie Roy of Dunnville, KY; and Ronald Gene Roy of Liberty, KY

  • Sisters: Louise Thomas, Brenda Wilson, and Josephine Wilson, all of Liberty and Opal Bernard of Dunnville, KY

  • Grandchildren: Kristie Morgan and Nathan (Virgie) Roy

  • Great-grandchildren: Jackson and Emma

  • And step great-grandchildren: Jack and John
Doodler was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Jean Sallee Roy, who passed away on March 8, 2011; his father, Columbus Roy; and brothers, Junior,Bobby, and Kelly Ray Roy. Arrangements entrusted to McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 756 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY.
