Poetry by Robert Stone: Let silenced names, a sonnet

Let silenced names
- a sonnet for the broken-hearted
No other thought but word absurd might prod
unknowable to know unknowable
and seeking, gain a gait beyond the plod
of worker dwarfed by weeds unhoeable.

No other love but dire desire might stir
unlovable to love unlovable
and struggling, work to clarify the blur
of handiwork at last ungloveable.

No other passion but from gut might dare
unstoppable to stop unstoppable
and failing, still continue with a care
of satisfaction high unswappable.

Let silenced names, let names unnameable
now shout themselves unshamed unshameable.
- Robert Stone, 29 September 2013
