Mary Christine Dunbar, Adair County, KY (1920-2013)

She was a native of Adair County, KY and a resident of Jefferson County, KY aand Harrison County, IN, for many years. She was a member of a highly regarded family. She was the daughter of the lagte Jesse & Mary Willis Murrell. Her marriage to the late James B. (Jim Dunbar) endured over 60 years. She leaves 22 direct living descendants, spanning 4 generations. She was a homemaker who loved animals and the great outdoors. She lived for many years in Louisville's West End, and then, back to her roots, on a farm in Palmyra, IN. She was a member of Palmyra Baptist Church.

Mary Christine Dunbar, 93, of Palmyra, Indiana, died Thursday, September 19, 2013 at the Villas of Guerin Woods in Georgetown, IN, after a two and one-half year battle with dementia.

Graveside service will be Monday, September 23, 2013 at 12pm noon CT, at Columbia Cemetery, 315 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Raymond Martin officiating. Burial will follow. There will be no local visitation.

She was born Mondaym, August 16, 1920, in Columbia, Adair County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Jesse & Mary Willis Murrell. She died Thursday, September 19, 2013, in Georgetown, IN, at the age of 93 years, 1 month, and 3 days.

She was a homemaker who loved animals and the great outdoors. She lived for many years in Louisville's West End, and then, back to her roots, on a farm in Palmyra, IN. She was a member of Palmyra Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of over 60 years, James B. (Jim) Dunbar.

Survivors include the following:
  • Her children: Pat (Marti) Nimke of San Diego, CA; Mike (Julie) Dunbar of Orlando, FL, David; and (Bebe) Dunbar of Floyds Knobs, IN

  • One sister: Margaret Sandusky of Louisville, KY

  • Six grandchildren:

  • Eleven great-grandchildren

  • Two great-great grandchildren

  • Numerous cousins, nieces and nephews
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the caregivers of Hosparus of Southern Indiana and the Villas of Guerin Woods for their help and loving care during this difficult time.

Expressions of sympathy may be given to either organization.
