Thurman Jean Loy, Adair County, KY (1931-2013)

He was a native and a resident at the time of his death of Adair County, KY. He was a member of a large, highly regarded South Adair County family. He was the son of Elbert Clifton & Mattie Dimple McClister Loy. His wife, Carol Turner Loy, survives. He leaves 16 direct and four step living descendants. He was a member of Columbia Baptist Church, served his country in the U. S. Air Force, member of Columbia Masonic Lodge #96 and was a mechanic

Thurman Jean Loy age 81 years of Columbia, KY, passed away Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 3:30pmCT, at the home of his son.

The funeral service Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at 1pmCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY. Eulogy will be delivered by C.J. Holt and assisting will be Bro. Terry White. Interment in the Loy Cemetery, 1740 Loy Cemetery Road, Fairplay with full military honors presented by the local VFW Post 6097. Visitation will be after 4:30pmCT/5pmET, Tuesday, September 10, 2013.

He was born on Sunday, September 14, 1931 in Adair County, KY. He was the son of the late Elbert Clifton & Mattie Dimple McClister Loy. He died Saturday, September 7, 2013, in Columbia, Adair County, KY at the age of 81 years, 11 months, and 23 days.

He was preceded in death by one son Michael Gene "Mickey" Loy on December 10, 2003.

He is survived by his wife Carol Turner Loy of Columbia, KY, and the following:
  • One son: Howard (Karren Sue) Loy of Columbia, KY

  • One daughter: Jeanna (Danny) Gonzales of Louisville, KY

  • Step-daughter: Georgina Roy of Columbia, KY

  • Three step-sons: Doug Neal of Lexington, KY; Mike Neal of Bowling Green, KY; and Scott Neal of Cosby, TN

  • One brother: Tony Loy of Fairplay, KY

  • Two sisters: Myrna Coomer and Betty Jo Compton of Fairplay, KY

  • Eight Grandchildren

  • Six great grandchildren

  • several nieces, nephews & a host of other relatives & friends
He was a member of Columbia Baptist Church, served his country in the U. S. Air Force, member of Columbia Masonic Lodge #96 and was a mechanic.
