He was a member of a highly regarded South Adair County, KY family. He was retired from Kroger in Louisville, KY following 34 years of service. He was a member of the Antioch United Methodist Church. He was inducted into the Kentucky Motorsports Hall of fame in August 2010. He was proud of all the work he did on his family home, farm and his success in drag racing. His hobbies were motor cycles and trap shooting

Billy G. Campbell age 75 years of the Sparksville community Columbia, KY passed away Thursday at 3:20pmCT, at Westlake Regional Hospital Emergency Room.

Funeral service Sunday, September 1, 2013 at 2pmCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, with the clergy officiating Bro. Lonny Karnes and Bro. Troy Elmore. Interment in Antioch United Cemetery, 3212 Wheeler Hill Road, Sparksville, KY. Visitation will be after 3pmCT, Saturday, August 31, 2013 at the funeral home.

He was born on March 27, 1938 in Adair County, KY. He was the son of the late Estell & Avis Page Campbell. he died Thursday, August 29, 2013, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 75 years, 5 months, and 2 days.

He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Sue Reliford Campbell, of Columbia, KY and the following:
  • Three daughters: Nancy Debra (Patrick) Welsh of Shepherdsville, KY Shelia Marie Snyder of Louisville, KY and Sheri Lynn Campbell of Columbia, KY

  • Three step-sons: Timothy E. Wilson of Columbia, KY, Scotty D. (Verna) Wilson of Cave City, KY; and Phillip K. Wilson of Columbia, KY

  • Five brothers: Bobby Campbell of Il., Maxie Campbell of Columbia, KY, Bernard Campbell of Columbia, KY, Frankie Campbell of Shepherdsville, KY; and Leon Campbell of Columbia, KY

  • Two sisters: Beverly Petty and Sharon Grant of Columbia, KY

  • Six grandchildren

  • Ten great grandchildren

  • One step-grandson

  • Several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends
He was preceded in death a sister Teresa Campbell.

Billy was retired from Kroger in Louisville, KY following 34 years of service. He was a member of the Antioch United Methodist Church. He was inducted into the Kentucky Motorsports Hall of fame in August 2010. He was proud of all the work he did on his family home, farm and his success in drag racing.
