She was a native of Dubre, KY, and a resident of Louisville at the time of her death. She was employed by Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company for 39 years before retiring in 1982. She was member of Southend Church of Christ, although she attended Cyclone Church of Christ a number of years after moving to Summer Shade, Kentucky in 1982

Nina M. Abston, 88, passed away July 19,2013 at Baptist Health East. She was born January 17,1925 in Dubre, Kentucky to George Payton and Madie Gertrude ( Anderson) Abston.

Funeral services will be at 12pm noon CT/1pmET, Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Burkesville, KY with burial in Marrowbone Cemetery. Visitation will be 3pm-9pmCT/4pm-10pmET, Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home in Burkesville, KY, at the funeral home. Visitation in Louisville, KY will begin on Monday, July 22, 2013 at 9amCT/10amET at Owen Funeral Home 5317 Dixie Highway with a service to follow at 5pmCT/6pmET, with Rev. Robert Miller officiating.

She was born Saturday, January 17,1925 in Dubre, KY. She was the daughter of to George Payton and Madie Gertrude ( Anderson) Abston. She passed away July 19,2013 in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY, at the age of 88 years, 6 months, and 2 days.

Nina was employed by Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company for 39 years before retiring in 1982. She was member of Southend Church of Christ, although she attended Cyclone Church of Christ a number of years after moving to Summer Shade, Kentucky in 1982.

She lived with her mother until Madie died in 1999. She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her siblings William Abston, Ruby Moore and Ruth Cottongim. She is survived by the following:
  • Her Dear Friend: Betty Wooldridge

  • Nephew: James E Ferguson

  • Nieces: Janet Wilson, and Betsy Moore and Johnny Dale Parks and other nieces and nephews, cousins, and many devoted friends.
Ballou & Stotts, 304 N Main Street, Burkesville, KY, in charge of arrangements.
