Norma George, Adair County, KY (1944-2013)

She was a native of Adair County, KY, and a resident of Indianapolis, IN, at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late Clyde & Lonie Ellen Spencer Melson and the widow of James George. She leaves 29 direct living descendants. She was a member of New Beginnings Baptist Fellowship Church and a homemaker

Norma George, 68, of Indianapolis, IN. formerly of the Cundiff community, died Saturday, July 6, 2013 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at 11amCT/12pm noon CT, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with burial to follow in Rippetoe Cemetery Visitation will be after 9amCT/10amET, Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at the funeral home.



Norma George, Adair County, KY (1944-2013)


She was born Friday, December 22, 1944, in Adair County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Clyde & Lonie Ellen Spencer Melson. She died Saturday, July 6, 2013, in Indianapolis, Marion County, IN, at the age of 68 years, 6 months, and 15 days.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James George; two sons, Rodney and Randall George; and one daughter, Tammy Shearer.

She was a member of New Beginnings Baptist Fellowship Church and a homemaker.

Survivors Include the following:
  • Two sons: Jessie Cummings, Jr. and Ronnie L. Cummings, both of Indianapolis, IN

  • Four daughters: Patricia George, Angela, Donna and Mary Cummings all of Indianapolis, IN

  • Two brothers: Walter Melson of Cundiff and Stanley Melson of Jamestown, KY

  • Twenty grandchildren

  • Three great-grandchildren
