Glenda Mercer Janes Coomer age 73 years and one month left this world peacefully at her home on Saturday, May 4, 2013, with her children by her side after a long battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be Monday, May 6, 2013 at 3pmCT/4pmET, at the Milltown United Methodist Church, 3262 Milltown Church Road, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Ronnie Janes and Bro. Glenn Waltz the officiating clergy. Interment will be in the Union Cemetery, 174 Milltown Church Road, Columbia, KY. The family request visitation after 4pmCT/5pmET on Sunday, May 5, 2013, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY.

Glenda Mercer Janes Coomer was the youngest of three children of Ural C. and Myrtle Mae Thomas Janes. She was born on April 5, 1940 in Gradyville, Adair County, KY. She left this world peacefully at her home on Saturday, May 4, 2013, with her children by her side after a long battle with cancer. She was 73 years and one month of age.

She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son Kevin Dewayne Coomer, in 1967; a brother Tom B. Janes in 1987; and a son in law Johnny Skipworth in 2012.

Survived by the following:
  • One son: Mark Coomer of Columbia, KY

  • One daughter: Meleassia Murray Skipworth, of Columbia, KY

  • Two grandsons: Nicholas Murray and wife Tonya of Lexington, KY; and Christopher Murray presently serving in the US Army in Afganistan

  • One sister: Barbara Nell Anderson of Columbia, KY

  • Several nieces, nephews and a host of friends
