Carrie Helen Lester Garrett, 81, Beaumont, KY (1932-2013)

"Helen" had a passion for cooking and fed numerous missionaries from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints of which she was a faithful member. Her church, her family, and her many neighbors and friends brought her much joy and contentment. She took great pride in keeping a nice home and also loved canning home-grown food and reading. In her later years, she kept busy as a home-health care-taker. She leaves 19 direct living descendants.

Carrie Helen Lester Garrett, 81, formerly a long-time resident of Beaumont, Ky ,died April 24, 2013 at Canyon Cove Assisted Living in Orem, UT.

A viewing will be held at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, 2232 Summer Shade Road, Summer Shade. KY 2pm-7pmCT, Tuesday, April 30, 2013, and at 11:30amCT, on Wednesday beginning at 11:30amCT, at the Glasgow ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 748 W. Cherry Street, Glasgow, KY after which funeral services will begin at 1pmCT Interment will be at the Summer Shade Cemetery.



Carrie Helen Lester Garrett, 81, Beaumont, KY (1932-2013)

She was born on July 24, 1932 to the late Sanford Ezra Lester and Hylus Lee White Lester. She died April 24, 2013, in Orem, Utah County, UT, at the age of 81 years, 9 months.

She was preceded in death by her husband James Murison Garrett and four brothers, Murl, Tennison, Raymond and Wayne Lester.

"Helen" had a passion for cooking and fed numerous missionaries from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints of which she was a faithful member. Her church, her family, and her many neighbors and friends brought her much joy and contentment. She took great pride in keeping a nice home and also loved canning home-grown food and reading. In her later years, she kept busy as a home-health care-taker. She is survived by the following:
  • Her daughter, Patricia Diane Neal of Orem, UT

  • Her son: James Nathan Garrett (Freida), of Pembroke Pines, FL

  • Sisters: Juanita Miller and Hazel McFarland of Glasgow, KY

  • Brother: Frank Lester of Willow Shade, KY

  • Seven grandchildren

  • Ten great grandchildren
