Anna Mae Hammond, Russell Co., KY (1928-2013)

She was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant Point United Baptist Church. She was the matriarch of a large, respected Russell County, KY, family. She is survived by her husband, Elder Kenneth Hammond. She leaves 30 direct living descendants

Anna Mae Hammond, 84, of Russell Springs, died Sunday April 7, 2013 at her home.

Funeral service for Anna Mae Hammond will be at 11amCT/12pmET, Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, 367 Main Street, Russell Springs, KY, with Eld. Larold Gosser and Eld. David Hammond officiating. Friends may call after 4pmCT/5pmET, Tuesday, April 9, 2013m, at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Salem Cemetery.



Active Pallbearers: Nathan Roy, Matthew Hammond, Ben Hammond, Ryan Roy, Jason Shanks, and Jonas Hammond.

Honorary Pallbearers: Lonnie White, Richard Riggins, Phillip Dale Combest, Buddy Croucher, Chris Tucker, Jeremy Tuel, John Luttrell, Ashley White, Tim Goodin, and John Mark Goodin.

She was born Friday, October 12, 1928 in Russell Springs, Russell County, KY. She was the daughter of the late William Carl and Mary Pearl Richards Combest She died Sunday, April 7, 2013, in Russell Springs, Russell County, KY, at the age of 84 years, 5 months, and 26 days..

She was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant Point United Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Allene Riggins, Marie White and two brothers, Phillip Combest, and Norman Combest.

Survivors include the following:
  • Her husband: Eld. Kenneth Hammond

  • Six children: Karen Steed, Winchester, KY; Janie (Gary) McFarland, Russell Springs, KY; Kenny (Sandra) Hammond, Russell Springs, KY; and Elder David (Rhonda) Hammond, Russell Springs, KY; John Mark (Sherry) Hammnd, Louisville, Mary (Larry) Roy, Russell Springs, KY

  • Thirteen grandchildren

  • Eleven great grandchildren

  • The family requests memorials to Hospice of Lake Cumberland or the National Sclerosis Foundation. These can be made at the funeral home. Bernard Funeral Home, 367 Main Street, Russell Springs, KY, in charge of arrangements.
