She was the matriarch of a large family with strong ties in Metcalfe, Adair, and Green Counties, KY. She leaves 52 direct living descendants. She was a homemaker and a member of the Green County Church of Christ.

Agnes Ray Young age 80 of Greensburg died Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at Golden Living Center in Greensburg, KY.

Funeral services will be held 11amCT, Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Butler Funeral Home, 201 East Street, Edmonton, KY with burial in the Mann Cemetery. Visitation will be 4pm-8pmCT, Friday, March 22, 2013, and after 9amCT, Saturday at the funeral home.



She was the daughter of the late Paul and Ollie Reed Smith. She was a homemaker and member of the Green County Church of Christ.

She is survived by the following:
  • Five sons: Randy Young, Jerry "Snake' Young, Jeff "Hammer" and wife Sharon Young, Michael Young, and Terry and wife Janice Young, all of Greensburg, KY

  • Three daughters: Bonnie Cowan of Columbia, KY; Becky and husband Jeff Campbell of Greensburg, KY; and Brenda and husband Timmy Hollins. Greensburg, KY

  • One sister; Mary Carter of Leitchfield, KY

  • Twenty-one grandchildren

  • Twenty-three: Great grandchildren
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Truman, two brothers Wayne and Jim John Smith.

The Butler Funeral Home, 201 East Street, Edmonton, KY, in charge of arrangements.
