She was the daughter of the late Charlie Ples and Patra Bailey Sinclair and widow of the late Howard Cecil Neat. She leaves 14 direct living descendants. Mrs. Neat was a member of the New Hope Separate Baptist Church and a homemaker

Mattie Lou Sinclair Neat age 90 years of the Ella Community, Columbia, KY, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 2:55amCT, at the Westlake Regional Hospital in Columbia, KY

Funeral services will be Friday, March 15, 2013 at 10amCT/11amET, at New Hope Separate Baptist Church, 10706 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY. Rev. David Coffey will be the officiating clergy. Interment will be in the New Hope Cemetery, 131 New Hope Cemetery Road, Columbia, KY. The family request visitation after 4pmCT/5pmET, Thursday, March 14, 2013, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY.



Pallbearers: James Bonta, Donald "Buck"Campbell, Jesse Green, Neil Goodin, Jeff Neat, Dallis Sinclair, Harold Warren, Matthew Willis Honorary Pallbearers: Dallas Neat, Dwayne Neat.

Mattie Lou Sinclair Neat, Adair County, KY (1923-2013)

She was born Tuesday, January 2, 1923 in Adair County, KY. She was the the daughter of the late Charlie Ples and Patra Bailey Sinclair. She died Tuesday, March 12, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 90 years, 3 months, and 10 days.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Cecil Neat on May 3, 1995; and six brothers and sisters: Alva, Toby, Johnny and Ewing Sinclair and Thelma Warren and Pearl Campbell.

She is survived by the following:
  • One daughter: Patricia Goodin and husband: Larry of Columbia, KY

  • Two sons: Charles Neat and wife: Clestine of Columbia, KY; and Don Neat and wife: Francine of Columbia, KY

  • Five grandchildren: Cheryl (Troy) Green, Erin (James) Bonta, Monica (Tim) Logsdon, Neil Goodin and fiancee' Natalie, Keri (Matthew) Willis

  • Six great grandchildren: Jesse Green and fiancee' Kayla, Toby Green, Will Bonta, Whitley Bonta, Samuel Willis, Mattie Willis

  • And several nieces, nephews and friends
Mrs. Neat was a member of the New Hope Separate Baptist Church and a homemaker.
