Mr. Joe Durham Blakeman of Greensburg, KY, departed this life on Monday, March 11, 2013 at the Jane Todd Crawford Hospital in Greensburg, KY.

The funeral mass for Mr. Joe Durham Blakeman will be conducted at 2pmCT, Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S Main Street, Greensburg, KY, with burial to follow in the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cemetery in Campbellsville, KY. Father Naylor will be officiating. Visitation is requested 4pm-9pmCT/5pm-10pmET, Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7amCT/8amET, Wednesday until time of the funeral service.



Joe Durham Blakeman, Green Co., KY (1929-2013)


Mr. Joe Durham Blakeman was the son of the late Robert Blakeman and Elizabeth "Sally" Durham Blakeman. He was born on Monday, December 30, 1929 in Green County, KY and departed this life on Monday, March 11, 2013 at the Jane Todd Crawford Hospital in Greensburg. He was 83 years, 2 months, and 11 days of age.


Pallbearers: Blake Judd, Joshua Blakeman, Ausin Oudomparamy, Justin Blakeman, Hunter Clark, and Jacob Pride Moore.

Honorary Pallbearers: Jeremy Blakeman, Brittani Cissell, Wes Clark, Todd Cissell, Mike Mills, Rudy Renfro, Tim Deaton, Eddie Paxton, Charlie Thompson, Robert Paxton, Buddy Lowe, Bob Olt, Gerald Haselwood, Brenda Patterson, and Dale Buchanan.

He was a member of Church of the Holy Redeemer, a retired Routeman/Salesman for the Greensburg Bottling Company, former Custodian for the Green County Middle School, a Korean War Veteran having served in the United States Army, a member of the American Legion Rod Lowe Post #124, retired Green County Fireman, Green County Fair Board member, and former Color Guard.

Mr. Blakeman is survived by his wife of 59 years, Patricia V. Walsh Blakeman of Greensburg, having united in marriage on January 29, 1954. Other survivors include the following:
  • His children and their spouses: Virginia Anne Blakeman-Judd, Joseph Patrick and Daisy Blakeman all of Greensburg, KY; Libby and Todd Cissell of Campbellsville, KY; and Tracy and Wes Clark of Greensburg, KY

  • Seven grandchildren: Blake Judd, Joshua Blakeman both of Lexington, Austin Oudomparamy of Danville, Justin Blakeman of Lexington, Birttani Cissell of Campbellsville, Jeremy Blakeman of Lexington, and Hunter Clark of Greensburg, KY

  • Two great-grandchildren: Shawn Oudomparamy of Greensburg, KY; and Braxton Judd of Lexington, KY

  • A sister and brother-in-law: Lydia Anne And Ron Gaunce of Greensburg, KY

  • Two brothers and sisters-in-law: Lynn Taylor and Judy Blakeman, and Richard Elliott "Dickie" and Connie Blakeman all of Greensburg, KY

  • And a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mr. Blakeman was also preceded in death by three brothers and a sister: Robert "Bobby" Blakeman, Billy Blakeman, Charles Hughett Blakeman, and Katherine Shuffett.
