Ruth Ann Campbell, Adair Co., KY (1939-2013)

She was a native of Green County, KY, the daughter of the late James and Florence Carter Cowan and a longtime resident of Columbia, KY. She was the widow of Michael Campbell and the matriarch of a highly respected Columbia, KY family. She leaves 8 direct living descendants. She especially treasured for her kind, caring way. She was a devout Christian and a member of Columbia Baptist Church. She was a retired social worker of the Kentucky Department of Social Services.

Ruth Ann Campbell, 74, of Columbia, KY died Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at 10:46pmCT, at her residence after an illness.

Funeral services will be Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 10amCT/11amET, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY with Rev. Randy Copeland, Rev. Troy Long and Rev. Glenn LaFond officiating. Burial will be in Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY. Visitation will be after 4pmCT/5pmET, Friday, March 1, 2013.



Casket bearers: Josh Frost, Darrell Carter, Wade Beard, Christopher Kelly, Danny Feese and Troy Long.

Honorary casket bearers: Barry Frost, Jon Redford, Tim Edwards and Dale Smith.

She was born Saurday, February 25, 1939, in Green County, KY. She was the daughter of the late James and Florence Carter Gowen. She died Wednesday, February 27, 2013, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 74 years, 2 days.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Campbell on December 25, 2005, and two brothers, Raymond Doyle an James Corley Gowen.

She was a member of Columbia Baptist Church and a retired social worker of the Kentucky Department of Social Services.

Survivors include the following
  • One son: Doug (Katie) Campbell of Columbia, KY

  • One daughter: Bethany Rachael Frost of Columbia, KY

  • One sister: Loris Janel Hamilton of Greensburg, KY

  • Five grandchildren: Josh Frost, Allison Frost, Paisley (Christopher) Kelly, Anna (Wade) Beard & Dalton Campbell

  • One great grandchild: Collier Coleman Kelly
