Mary Frances (Shorty) Brockman, Adair Co. KY (1945-2013)

She was a member of Pollards Chapel United Methodist Church and was a Nurse Technician at Westlake Regional Hospital. She was a member of a highly regarded Cane Valley area family, the daughter of the late Mason Stanley and Myrte Willis Smith. She is survived by her husband, Ores Brockman. She leaves 7 direct living descendants.

Mary Frances "Shorty" Brockman age 67 years of Sulphur Springs Road, Columbia, KY passed away Friday, February 22, 2013 at 1:32pmET at UK Medical Center in Lexington, KY.

Funeral services are Monday, February 25, 2013 at 10:30amCT/11:30amET, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY with Rev. William R. Davenport officiating. Interment in Cane Valley Cemetery, 83 Cane Valley Cemetery Road, Columbia, KY, in the Cane Valley community. Visitation is after 3pmCT/4pmET, at Sunday, February 24, 2013, at the funeral home.

She was born on Wednesday, September 4, 1945 in Adair County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Mason Stanley and Myrte Willis Smith. She died Friday, February 22, 2013 in Lexington, Fayette County, KY, at the age of 67 years, 5 months, and 18 days.

She is survived by her husband Ores Brockman of Columbia, KY, and the following:
  • Two sons: Jeffrey Allen (Maria) Brockman of Lawrence , Kansas; and Samuel Lewis Brockman of Columbia, KY

  • Three brothers: Maurice Edward (Billie) Smith of Cleveland, TN; Marion "Derby" (Phyllis) Smith of Columbia, KY; Marvin "Buck" (Beverly) Smith of Columbia, KY

  • Three sisters: Marjorie Burton of Louisville, KY; Marie "Pat" (Donnie) Bennett of Louisville, KY; and Margaret Sarah (Mitchell) Tupman of Brandenburg, KY

  • Five grandchildren: Brittany Ann Brockman, Derek Lewis Brockman, Jake Elliot Brockman, John Allen Brockman, Evelyn Grace Brockman

  • Special niece/care giver: Fay Bennett

  • Many nieces, nephews and host of other relatives and friends
Mary was a member of Pollards Chapel United Methodist Church and was a Nurse Technician at Westlake Regional Hospital.
Expressions of sympathy in Shorty's memory to the Leukemia Society and can be made at the funeral home.
