Wants Metcalfe Co. bus to slow down on Chestnut Grove Road

Speed limit on Chestnut Grove Road is 35 mph. Writer wants it enforced

Cate Pearson
Personal commentary

I live in the Chestnut Grove Community of Adair County. I have lived here for more than two years. The speed limit on our road is posted 35 mph.

There is a Metcalfe County bus which drives our road twice a day. This bus has children on it and Chestnut Grove Road has children who live on it.

This bus travels at a high speed on this road every day. I have contacted the Metcalfe County School Transportation Department about this. Nothing changed. I contacted the Adair County Sheriff's Department. Nothing happened. I contacted the State Police. Nothing happened.

Does a child need to die before something happens to slow this driver down? I don't know if anyone there cares, but I felt I needed to tell someone. I am not the only one on this road who feels this way, but we can do nothing short of pulling out in front of this bus, risking an accident, and MAKING it do the speed limit. --Cate Pearson
