Rose Mildred Roy, Casey Co., KY (1938-2013)

She was a native of Font Hill, Russell County, KY, and a highly regarded citizen of the Thomas Ridge community of Casey County, KY where she and her late husband, Major Roy farmed and reared their children. She leaves 25 direct living descendants. She was a housewife and enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting and working with her hands. She was a good cook and her kitchen was always open to anyone. She helped with the animals, crop farming and later worked as a cashier in the retail industry. She was a very devoted member of the Thomas Ridge Christian Church

Rose Mildred Roy, 74, passed away Saturday, February 2, 2013 at her son’s home in Dunnville, KY. She was 74. Funeral services will be at 10amCT/11amET, Tuesday February 5, 2013 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY, with Bro. Hershel Lawhorn and Bro. John Westerfield officiating. Burial will be at the Thomas Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be 5pm-8pmCT/6pm-9pmET, Monday, February 4, 2012



Pallbearers: Robbie Morgan, Brian Roy, Chris Roy, John Roy, Jeremy Morgan , Nicholas Roy, Brandon Patton and Justin Rodgers.

Honorary pallberers: Alicia Roy, Jessica Miller, Mary Beth Hammond, Brandon Absher, Bentley Roy Emily Miller and London Roy.

Rose Mildred Roy, Casey Co., KY (1938-2013)


She was born Saturday, September 24, 1938 at Fonthill, Russell County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Welby and Rose Withers Thomas. She died Saturday, February 2, 2013, in Dunnville, KY, at the age of 74 years, 4 months, and 9 days.

On January 24, 1959, she married Major Roy, where they lived, in Franklin, Johnson County, Indiana. In 1962, they returned to the Thomas Ridge community of Casey County, KY where they farmed and reared their children. She was a housewife and enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting and working with her hands. She was a good cook and her kitchen was always open to anyone. She helped with the animals, crop farming and later worked as a cashier in the retail industry. She was a very devoted member of the Thomas Ridge Christian Church.

Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Major Roy; one sister, Hestina Wilson; and three brothers, Paul Edwin Thomas, Kenneth Eugene Thomas, and Welby Thomas, Jr.

She is survived by the following:
  • Two daughters: Ramona (Bruce) Luttrell, of Liberty, KY; and Teresa (Jerry) Morgan of Russell Springs, KY

  • Four sons: Trent (Lindy) Roy, Bruce (Becky) Roy, Jeffery (Angela) Roy all of Dunnville, KY; and Stevie (Patricia) Roy of Russell Springs, KY

  • Fifteen grandchildren:

  • Four great grandchildren

  • One brother: Carl Mac Thomas of Shepherdsville, KY

  • Two great-aunts, Zella Owens and Margie Roy both of Russell Springs, KY

  • and a host of nieces and nephews
Funeral arrangements entrusted to McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY.
