She was the matriarch of a large respected West Adair County family. She leaves 12 direct living descendants. She attended Hutchison Community Church and was retired from OshKosh B'Gosh

Opal "Tobe" Bennett, 77, of Columbia, died Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at 10:40pmCT at Summit Manor Health and Rehab in Columbia, KY.

Funeral services will be Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 2pmCT, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Bobby Withers officiating. Burial in Jones Chapel Cemetery, 2700 Jones Chapel Road, Columbia, KY. Visitation will be after 4pmCT, Friday, February 1, 2013.



Opal "Tobe" Bennett, Adair County, KY (1935-2013

She was born May 2, 1935, in Adair County, to the late Willie Nell and Mary May Montgomery Sneed. She died Tuesday, January 29, 2013, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 77 years, 8 months, and 27 days.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lyndell Bennett on Saturday, September 14, 2011, two brothers, Richard and Marvin Sneed, two sisters, Louise Price and Thelma Brown, and two half-brothers, Ernest and Irvin Sneed.

She attended Hutchison Community Church and was retired from OshKosh B'Gosh.

Survivors Include:
  • One son and daughter in law: Ricky and Linda Bennett of Columbia, KY

  • One daughter and son in law: Devon and Larry Brown of Columbia, KY

  • Three Grandchildren: Nick Brown of Columbia, KY; Shane Bennett of Pittsburgh, PA; and Amy Melton of Columbia, KY

  • Seven great grandchildren
