Beverly Dee Merritt, Adair County, KY (1950-2013)

Beverly Dee Merritt was a member of Columbia Christian Church, an avid supporter of the Adair County High School Band, charter member of Hardin County MADD, 1987 Kentucky State Chairperson of MADD, Writer-Editor US Army Armor Center, Training Literature Division, graduate of WKU, briefly employed as a field representative by US Senator McConnell and was Technical Writer/Editor of "Emerging Infectious Diseases Journal" at Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, GA.

Beverly Dee Merritt, 62, of Columbia, KY, died Monday, January 21, 2013 at the Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, TN, after an illness.

Funeral services will be Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 11amCT/12pm noon CT, at Columbia Christian Church, 206 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY with Bro. Terry White officiating. Burial will be in Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY. Visitation will be after 5pmCT/6pmET, Friday, January 25, 2013, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, and after 9amCT/10amET, Saturday at the church.



Casket Bearers: James Victor Edwards, William Scott Edwards, Scotty Ferguson, Mark Ferguson, Gary Merritt, Sam Merritt, Billy Smith, and George Christian Sampson.

Honorary: Tim Allen, Mike Hannah, Christopher Hannah, T.J. Wheeler, Everett Wheeler, Ronnie Brandenburg, Kenny Withers, and Donnie Gentry.


Beverly Dee Merritt, Adair County, KY (1950-2013)

She was born in Taylor County, KY, September 2, 1950. She was the daughter of the late William A. and Marcene Tedder Merritt. She died Monday, January 21, 2013 in Memphis, Shelby County, TN, at the age of 62 years, 4 months, and 19 days.

Bev was a member of Columbia Christian Church, an avid supporter of the Adair County High School Band, charter member of Hardin County MADD, 1987 Kentucky State Chairperson of MADD, Writer-Editor US Army Armor Center, Training Literature Division, graduate of WKU, briefly employed as a field representative by US Senator McConnell and was Technical Writer/Editor of "Emerging Infectious Diseases Journal" at Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, GA. Survivors include the following:
  • Two sisters: Freeda Hannah of Arlington, TN, Carol Edwards of Lakeland, TN

  • One brother: Doug Merritt of Nashville, TN

  • A special aunt and uncle: Viola and Scotty Ferguson of Columbia, KY

  • Several other relatives and friends
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Marietta Merritt. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the Adair County Band, Mothers Against Drunk Drivers, Columbia Christian Church Missions, or any animal shelter of choice.
