Gertha Williams, Knifley, KY (1922-2012)

She was the matriarch of a large, highly regarded Knifley, KY family. She leaves 17 direct living descendants. She was a member of Knifley Christian Church and a former cook at Knifley Grade Center.

Gertha Williams, 90, formerly of the Knifley community, died Monday, January 21, 2013 at 2:20pmCT. at the Westlake Regional Hospital, KY

Funeral services will be at 12pm noon CT/1pmET, Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Hugh Withers and Bro. Jimmie Knifley officiating. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery, W. Main Street, Campbellsville, KY. Visitation will be after 3pmCT/4pmET, Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at the funeral home.



Gertha WIlliams, Knifley, KY (1922-2012)

She was born April 25, 1922, in Adair County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Elvin and Mayme Parker Overstreet. She died Monday, January 21, 2013, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 90 years, 8 months, and 26 days.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Williams, and one brother and three sisters; Ralph Overstreet, Ruby Harden, Kathleen Hovious, Margie Chelf.

She was a member of Knifley Christian Church and a former cook at Knifley Grade Center.

Survivors include the following:
  • Two daughters and sons in law - Pat and Doug Ferguson of Knifley, KY; and Judy and Nolan Cole of Columbia, KY

  • One sister: Ina Moyer of Streator, Illinois

  • Four grandchildren: Tammy (Mark) Humphress, Melinda (Johnny) Beard, Jamie (Tricia) Cole, Jeremy (Danielle) Cole

  • Nine great grandchildren : Jon Beard, Chelsea Beard, Whitney Kemp, Adam Humphress, Taylor Cole, Jace Cole, Shelby Cole, Ashley Cole and Jon Cole

  • Two great great grandchildren:Piper and Gabby Kemp
