Leon Lasley, Adair Co., KY native (1949-2012)

He was a native of Adair County, KY and a highly respected citizen of Taylor County, KY. He was the patriarch of a large family. He is survived by his wife Paulette Staten Lasley and leaves 10 direct living descendants. He was a member and deacon of Santa Fee Baptist Church and had been employed by Lake Cumberland Head Start, Summit Manor Nursing Home and Metzmeier Nursing Home. He loved the game of basketball, especially University of Louisville. His favorite phrase was "get in there, you rascal, you."

Leon C. Lasley, Sr., 63, of Campbellsville, KY, died Sunday, December 30, 2012 at 8:54pmET, at the Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville, KY.

Funeral services Friday, January 4, 2013 at 1pmCT/2pmET, at Santa Fee Baptist Church with Rev. Louis Henry delivering the eulogy. Burial will be in Lasley Cemetery. Visitation after 5pmCT/6pmET, Thursday, January 3, 2012, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, and after 11amCT/12pm noon CT, Friday at the church.

Leon Lasley, Adair Co., KY native (1949-2012)

He was born January 21, 1949, in Adair County, KY. He was the son of the late Leonard Lasley and Maxine Cheatham Lasley Maddox, who survives. He died Sunday, December 30, 2012, in Campbellsville, Taylor County, KY, at the age of 63 years, 11 months, and 9 days.

He was a member and deacon of Santa Fee Baptist Church and had been employed by Lake Cumberland Head Start, Summit Manor Nursing Home and Metzmeier Nursing Home. He loved the game of basketball, especially University of Louisville. His favorite phrase was "get in there you rascal you".

He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Lasley, one sister, Freda Elosie Lasley, a niece, Elisha Ann Lasley and his step-father, Henry Maddox Survivors include:
  • His wife: Paulette Staton Lasley of Campbellsville, KY

  • His mother: Maxine Cheatham Lasley Maddox of Campbellsville

  • Two sons: Leon Jr. (Tracy) Lasley and Tiran LaVon Lasley all of Campbellsville

  • One sister: Hilda (Jorge) Moreno of Bardstown, KY

  • Eight grandchildren: Christopher, Travon, Latron, Savon, Kobe, Trever, Raylee and Ethen

  • Two uncles: J.C. (Bonita) Lasley of Columbia, Owen P. (Ernestine) Cheatham of Indianapolis, IN

  • Two aunts: Lillie Duvall of Columbia, Irene Burks of St. Louis, MO

  • Several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives

  • A host of friends
